Sub: Request to release Dr. George Zachariah for a National Church Leaders’ Workshop on Climate Change, November 4-6, 2009, Nagpur.

Dear Dr. Manoharan,

Greetings to you from CASA. As you are aware that there is a growing concern of the Climate Change and Global Warming, as the whole world is putting their efforts to respond to this crisis. The UN Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen in December this year, shows the urgency to address this issue. However, CASA looks at Climate change from the Justice and Human Rights perspective, as the perpetrators of Climate Change are now offering the solution to the problem of climate change, which will again suit their own capitalistic interest.

In this context, I am happy to inform you that CASA is organising a National workshop on Climate Change from the Justice and Human Rights perspective for the Church Heads / Board Members of CASA during 4-6 November 2009 at Nagpur. We wish to invite Dr. George Zachariah, faculty of Gurukul to be the key resource person to facilitate a series of Bible Studies in the said workshop. Dr. George have been part of CASA's engagement in Climate Change initiatives earlier too, hence he knows CASA’s stand on Climate Change. I will be extremely thankful, if you could kindly release him for the said workshop and thereby contribute to this process of Climate Justice Initiatives among the Churches.

Thanking you,

With warm regards

Yours sincerely

Sushant Agrawal

Director, CASA
